May 2012

I am always amazed at how quickly the month of May comes upon us. I am even more amazed at the many activities that fill the month. Please keep our second grade class in your prayers and they make their first reconciliation (May 4) and communion (May 6). It is such a special time for our students and parents and we are proud of their hard work and preparation. Thank you also to Mrs. Becker who has prepared them well.

April 30 was the registration deadline for the 2012-2013 school year. If you have not turned that in yet, please do so as soon as possible. It is imperative that we get an accurate count of students before ordering curriculum materials for next year. As always, I thank you for your sacrifices in choosing Holy Family School for your children. We recognize your decision and it is our greatest effort to provide a quality education. You have our promise that we will work hard for you.

We want to wish good luck to Bens Sons and Katie Brandt as they participate in the State History Fair on May 3 in Springfield. I look forward to updating our school community on their status upon their return.

I am proud to report that thanks to the hard work and dedication of our school club and Holy Family parents, we were able to raise the necessary funds for our new Math materials. Each class has been provided with the materials necessary which will allow them to begin implementing the new Common Core Standards for Math. Thank you everyone for your continued support.

Holy Family School was proud to celebrate 50 years on Alice Avenue this year. We are dedicated to maintaining the quality Catholic education our school is known for. This Spring will mark the inaugural Holy Family School Annual Appeal whereby we will target a specific goal and reach out to our alumni in hopes of a collaborative effort towards achieving this goal. This year our goal will be to update our school with some needed technology support. As we all know technology evolves quickly and we are hoping to provide our students with Smart Boards, laptops or tablets to use as a support to their curriculum.

Please join us on May 7 from 3:00-5:00 for our annual Art Fair showcasing the wondering artwork our students have created throughout the school year.

On May 18 we will say goodbye to our graduation 8th grade class and wish them well on their future endeavors. Graduation mass begins at 6:00pm.
