Tax Credit Info for Applicants

Scholarship Overview For Applicants

As a current or future family of Holy Family School, we have some exciting news for you. A new Illinois law, “Invest in Kids Act,” is scholarship opportunity to help students attend Holy Family School. Scholarships offered through this new program have the potential to cover up to 50%-100% of tuition and fees for next school year.

Under the tax credit scholarships (TCS) program, individuals and corporations make donations to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) that will distribute scholarships to schools on behalf of qualified students.

Based on qualifications, students may be eligible for a scholarship 50%, 75%, or in some cases even 100% of tuition and fees. Scholarships are need based but also distributed on a first come, first serve basis so it is important to apply as soon as the application process is opened.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly at 815-883-8916. We look forward to sharing more about the new scholarship program in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jasiek, Principal

Tax Information for Donors

Scholarship Overview For Donors

As an Illinois taxpayer, there is an exciting new opportunity available to you. A new Illinois law, “Invest in Kids Act,” is an opportunity to get a sizable tax CREDIT and help students attend Holy Family School at the same time. When you donate money to the “Invest in Kids Act,” you receive an Illinois tax credit in the amount of 75% of your donation. This is a 5-year program for tax credit scholarships (TCS) for students in private schools in Illinois.

Under the TCS program, individuals and corporations make donations to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) that will distribute scholarships to schools on behalf of qualified students. Individual and corporate donors will receive a 75% state tax credit, up to $1 million cap for the state, for donations made to an SGO. Individuals are able to designate their donation directly to Holy Family School.

Tax credits will be available on a first come, first serve basis beginning January 2, 2018. Since there is a limit to the tax credit, it is important to move quickly because strong interest could cause this cap to be reached within minutes of opening.

Please consider this opportunity with an open heart and I thank you for your dedication to the students of Holy Family School. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at 815-883-8916.

Kind Regards,

Mrs. Jyll Jasiek, Principal

Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program

Illinois Tax Credit
Scholarship Program Overview

Invest in Kids Act

In August 2017, the House and Senate passed an education funding bill that was signed into law by the governor. The law includes a provision for tax credit scholarships, which provide strong incentives for donors to support non-public school scholarships for low-income students in the State of Illinois students from low-income families may use these new scholarships to attend a non-public school of their choice.

This new legislation represents a major step forward that will help create more equity in school funding throughout Illinois, and for the first time provide real school choice for students and their families.

What is a tax credit scholarship program?
A Tax Credit Scholarship Program allows taxpayers – individuals, corporations, partnerships or trusts – to donate to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) and receive a credit on their state taxes in return. Holy Family School will utilize the SGO entitled Empower Illinois.  Empower Illinois will then use the donations to grant scholarships to qualifying students to attend a qualifying non-public school. However, we are asking individual donors to designate Holy Family School when submitting your application for donation to the state of Illinois. This ensures that your tax credit donation will provide a scholarship to a Holy Family School student.

Who is eligible to receive a scholarship?
Current Holy Family and incoming students, grade K-8, are eligible to receive a tax credit scholarship. Please click on the "Tax Credit Information for Applicants" below for more specific information on eligibility.
