Scholarship Overview For Donors
As an Illinois taxpayer, there is an exciting new opportunity available to you. A new Illinois law, “Invest in Kids Act,” is an opportunity to get a sizable tax CREDIT and help students attend Holy Family School at the same time. When you donate money to the “Invest in Kids Act,” you receive an Illinois tax credit in the amount of 75% of your donation. This is a 5-year program for tax credit scholarships (TCS) for students in private schools in Illinois.
Under the TCS program, individuals and corporations make donations to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) that will distribute scholarships to schools on behalf of qualified students. Individual and corporate donors will receive a 75% state tax credit, up to $1 million cap for the state, for donations made to an SGO. Individuals are able to designate their donation directly to Holy Family School.
Tax credits will be available on a first come, first serve basis beginning January 2, 2018. Since there is a limit to the tax credit, it is important to move quickly because strong interest could cause this cap to be reached within minutes of opening.
